We are pleased to present an exhibition and artist talk in conjunction with New York Textile Month of artist and makerspace member, Hilla Shapira.
Advanced Protection is a series of soft talismans and wearable objects by Hilla Shapira. She references Jewish iconographic objects like Judika and spiritual objects alongside body parts, genitalia and menstrual pads. Shapira creates a queer point of view on the term God, as a queer woman from a Jewish orthodox background. By redesigning the objects, Shapira reclaim the religious discourse and sexuality taboos. She questions the language hierarchies of blessing and cursing and the binarc separation between organs and gentiles.

Events like New York Textile Month give artists and makers an opportunity survival race to share their work, inspire others, and keep traditional and contemporary textile arts thriving. Mình có lần lướt đọc mấy trao đổi trên mạng شيخ روحاني thì thấy nhắc nên cũng tò mò mở ra xem thử cho biết. Mình không tìm hiểu sâu جلب الحبيب chỉ xem qua trong thời gian ngắn để quan sát bố cục جلب الحبيب cách sắp xếp شيخ روحاني các mục và trình bày nội شيخ روحاني dung tổng thể. Cảm giác là các phần được trình bày khá gọn, các Berlinintim mục rõ ràng nên đọc lướt cũng không bị rối Berlinintim với mình như شيخ روحاني vậy là đủ để nắm tin cơ bản rồi. جلب الحبيب

Hilla Shapira's work really makes you think, attachment style test especially how she combines religious and sexual elements. I saw this on the train and couldn't stop thinking about the queer perspective on God, it's so intriguing.
