faq

Do current makerspace members have access to the ceramics room as part of regular membership?

Studio members have 24/7 access (except for times when a class or bench time slot is scheduled.) Current and new makerspace members in Building B need to sign up for either a Pro + Ceramics or Maker + Ceramics membership to access the ceramics studio. Associate Members need to sign up for a monthly Ceramics membership separate from their annual Associate memberships.

Do I have to be a member to access the ceramics room?

Non-members can take classes, but you must be a member to have access. Studio members have 24 hr access. Ceramics Only,  Pro+Ceramics  and Maker+Ceramics members have access anytime during scheduled available access days.

I'm only interested in ceramics. I don't want to have access to the other tools in the shops.

Cool. You can be a Ceramics Only member.

Can I bring my own clay?

No. We have house clays (brown, white stoneware, and porcelain) for sale. Other specialty clays may be available from time to time.

Are there fees for firing?

Bisque firing is included in the cost of your clay purchases. Glaze firing is $.06 per cubic inch.

How often are firings done?

Regularly- exact schedule to be determined.

Do you have a photo or list of glazes that this studio uses?

House glazes:

 - Arabia Blue

 - Celadon

 - Cushings White

 - Karen’s Blue

 - Metallic black

 - Mexican Green

 - Persimmon

 - Randy’s Red

 - Raspberry

 - Clear

Do you have shelf space? Storage?

There is shared shelf space for those enrolled in classes. Those who sign up for memberships can rent a 2x2 cube locker for $40/month or 1x1 vertical locker for $30/month to store personal tools, clay, aprons, and finished pieces.
