Basic Use and Safety

hourly rates:
$75 non-member/$60 member

Learn the basic set up, safety and use of machines in the shops. In order to be cleared to use industrial and advanced manufacturing machines, you must show basic proficiency and knowledge of safety and use of each machine you want to use. Use clearance may be granted through demonstrated knowledge of machinery or by taking a BUS class.

For now, our workshops in industrial machinery are limited to ages 18+.  Some non-industrial machine classes such as laser cutting or 3D printing are suitable for ages 13+. If you are unsure, just ask.

Popular options are:

MIG welding (minimum 2 hours basic intro)

Metalshop Accessory Saws and Tools 1 (1 hour)

Metalshop Accessory Bending and Shaping tools (1 hour)

Woodshop- Tablesaw/Planer/Jointer (min 1 hour)

Ultimaker 3D printer (1 hour)

Family & Group Programming

We offer workshops for families at both locations. For now, most of these are being held online. We are hosting some group workshops outdoors at our Staten Island location in MakerPark.

We have many family days each summer that are completely free! Events are listed on Eventbrite.

Kids

Kids Programming

We want to teach children to have hands on experience through STEAM!

We host many summer camps and MiniMaker days which are one day intensives for a variety of age groups.

We are always updating our calendar with new kids summer events and afterschool events during the school year.
