Basic Use and Safety classes

Small group classes to learn the basic set up, safety and use of machines in the shops. These are simply machine set up and use and not project or skill based lessons.

In order to be cleared to use industrial and advanced manufacturing machines, you must show basic proficiency and knowledge of safety and use of each machine you want to use. Use clearance may be granted through demonstrated knowledge of machinery or by taking a BUS class.

For now, our workshops in industrial machinery are limited to ages 18+.  Some non-industrial machine classes such as laser cutting or 3D printing are suitable for ages 13+. If you are unsure, just ask.

policy change

As of July 2023, we only offer Basic Use & Safety machine training in group class settings. Private lessons are only offered to instruct on specialty skills, not machine basics.

If you do not see a class scheduled for a machine you would like training on, please sign up for our waitlist (below) to get notified when the next becomes available.

Adult

private lessons

Individual instruction is reserved for those are looking to learn a specific specialty skill, going beyond the basics. To schedule, you must have been previously certified on our machines.

For now, our lessons in industrial machinery are limited to ages 18+.  Some non-industrial machine classes such as laser cutting or 3D printing are suitable for ages 13+. If you are unsure, just ask.
